NFF mourns death of ‘Flying Cat’ Agbonavbare
Abuja – The Nigeria Football Federation has expressed deep grief at the death of former Super Eagles’ goalkeeper Wilfred Agbonavbare.
The former Senior National Team number one goalie’s affliction with cancer was reported a couple of weeks ago, and the news was broken that he died in the early hours of Tuesday in Spain.
“This is very sad coming only two days after the death of Coach Musa Abdullahi. The Nigeria Football Federation became aware of Agbonavbare’s affliction only a couple of weeks ago.” NFF vice president Seyi Akinwunmi said.
“This is another true hero gone to rest too early. Agbonavbare was a patriot of the first grade and his contributions to Nigeria football on-field can never be forgotten.”

Wilfred Agbonavbare, who played for Rubber Board FC and New Nigeria Bank FC, both of Benin City, was a member of the Super Eagles squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 1994, and also made the final squad to Nigeria’s debut appearance at the World Cup finals in USA the same year – one of the three goalkeepers, the others being Peter Rufai and Alloy Agu.
He was in the first Nigeria team to qualify for a FIFA World Cup finals – the U-20 squad of 1983. At the finals in Mexico, the team famously defeated USSR but lost 3-0 to Brazil before a 0-0 draw with The Netherlands, exiting at group stage.
The well-built goaltender also represented the senior team at the 1984, 1988 and 1990 Africa Cup of Nations finals, and winning silver in all three, before plucking gold in Tunisia in 1994.
He also played for Spanish club, Rayo Vallecano.

'They were the most loving family'
Cape Town - “They were a stunning, stunning family,” a close friend of the murdered Van Breda family told News24 on Wednesday.
The friend, who asked not to be named, was speaking in the wake of the attack on the Van Breda family in their home on a luxury golf estate in Stellenbosch on Tuesday.
The bodies of Martin van Breda, 55, his wife Teresa, 54, and their son Rudi, 22 were found in their De Zalze Golf Estate home on Tuesday morning. Their 16-year-old daughter, Marli, is in a critical condition in hospital and their 20-year-old son, Henri, was slightly injured.
It is believed they were attacked with an axe. The motive for the attack is unclear and police are keeping a tight lid on any information.
The friend, who met with the family at a social event only days ago, said the family was very close.
“I’m just shocked, I can’t believe it,” she said.
She described Martin as a quiet and calm man while Teresa was excited to be going to Italy where she would be doing a cooking course.
Rudi was studying engineering in Australia and Henri was also a student, the friend said.
De Zalze Homeowners Association chairperson Eben Potgieter told News24 earlier they had found no breach of security. He said there was an 8km fence surrounding the estate and there were security cameras around the property.
According to a resident, who wished to remain anonymous, Henri had been found by a neighbour sitting outside the family home with a phone in his hand.
“He was a happy, funny, fresh, young man,” the family friend told News24 of Henri, who is widely reported as being questioned by police as a potential witness.
As to speculation that a family member was involved, the friend said she could not believe it as she witnessed no family tension.
“They were just the loveliest family.”

Did Funke Akindele shade Toyin Aimakhu last night?
Something happened last night but I was too tired to write it ...and then I woke up this morning and almost forgot about it. *sigh*. I may be reaching and Funke may not have been referring to Toyin but let me tell you what happened and you decide for yourself.
It's not news that Toyin Aimakhu and Funke Akindele don't see eye to eye. If you Google, you will find a few posts of reports of the two actresses beefing each other. In fact, sometime in 2013, Toyin tweeted at an 'aunty Agbaya' who was going around tarnishing her image. Toyin made reference to herself being married while the 'Agbaya' was single and jumping around. This was a few months after Funke Akindele's marriage ended. (Read here). A lot of people felt Toyin was referring to Funke.
Well, yesterday after news hit social media that Toyin Aimakhu's marriage to Adeniyi Johnson had crashed, Funke went on instagram and posted what you see above and under it she wrote "Yes, You!" with two tongue out smiley.
Many of her followers immediately picked up on it and accused her of shading Toyin because her marriage had also failed. When fans criticized her for the post, Funke Akindele removed it but not before I screen-grabbed it. So that's happened. You think it had to do with Toyin?

Erm, she's his new wife, not his daughter (photos)
Remember I posted this pic above (left) a while back and we were all confused as to the real nature of their relationship because of how young the girl is. Some said she was his (him - being former governor of Kogi, Audu Abubakar) new wife, others said she was his daughter. Erm, a new pic has been released to clear the confusion (right). That's his new wife. Her name is (supposedly) Olivia and she's University of Jos undergraduate.
